I'm StabOfHappiness, but you can call me Stab! I'm a autistic Christian apostate with ADHD, and a very surface-level dabbler in the occult, but most of what you'll be hearing from me on this blog is stuff related to gaming (particularly of the tabletop roleplaying variety), fantasy, worldbuilding, and odd thoughts that I feel need to be written down.

I don't have much of an idea how frequently I'll be doing this yet, but if even a few people find this thing and enjoy it, I'll feel content!

DOOM's Demons

Doom was something I only got into somewhat recently, a few years ago. I spent most of my life convinced FPS titles weren't for me, mostly because they seemed difficult to get into and mostly involved normal military men with the voices of squealing children, but then I booted up DOOM 2016 for the first time and that changed. I can hardly think of going back to a time when blowing up stuff wasn't the center focus.  I've since gone back and played through as much of Doom as I could, getting GZDoom and Rocket Launcher to play the original games, then adding in some mods, checking out Doom 64 , and even attempting to play Doom 3 before realizing people weren't joking about the lack of visibility being more annoying than genuinely challenging. Reading Volo's Guide to Monsters: Introduction and Beholders

  Volo's Guide to Monsters is a book designed to provide deeper insight into some common monsters beyond what is seen in the Monster Manual so that dungeon masters have more materials to draw from for players, and it is absolutely a mixed bag. There's some decent worldbuilding in there for the Forgotten Realms, but there's also some stuff that feels... Let's not mince words here: sketch as hell. We'll get to that. Overall, I'd still consider this book worth the purchase, as sitting down on my bed under a weighted blanket and admiring the art, the humor, and those SEXY statblocks makes the soda-addicted imp that lives in my head do a happy dance, and I don't plan on spoiling the whole book, but I feel like using a blog to push me to actually read and reflect on it, as well as write down and share my thoughts, would be good for me.
